in this town of halloween

dear trick-or-treat writer!

Thank you for offering any of these fandoms.

I'm so excited to see what you come up with! I tried to make this as skim-friendly as possible. The tl;dr of it all is that if you touch on anything I mention liking even slightly (and I have a lot of things that I like!), I'll be elated ♥

TRICKS | TREATS | DISLIKES
Dominion (TV) | Deadpool (2016) | Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
Der Samurai | True Detective

( quick note )

I’ve tried to break the prompts into a format that works for the less-is-more writer and the more-is-more writer. Feel free to pick and choose aspects of the prompts that you like, and disregard or change whatever doesn’t work for you.

If you come up with an idea that’s similar to a prompt I left below, but not quite on the nose, go for it! If ¾ of a prompt really works for you, but the final ¼ doesn’t, only work with the bit that does! Mixing and matching is also completely fine.
⟿The top level prompt suggestions are generalized, complete ideas. Know what you want to write now? Great!

Not sure what to write? Mind swimming with too many possibilities? Not enough possibilities? The questions and ideas following the top-level are here for you, just in case you need more prompting!
Don't feel like you have to spend a bunch of time on setting up a universe or plot. I already know what 'verse I requested or what situation I've set up in a prompt, so please feel free to jump right in the "middle" of a story/in media res and start right when stuff is getting interesting.

TRICKS!
⟿ Vampires, ghosts, werewolves, zombies, shape-shifters, demons, aliens, superheroes, villains, barbarians, wizards: it’s all fine with me.

⟿ I love fucked up, unhealthy relationships. Codependent relationships, dependent personality disorders being exploited by someone with a histrionic personality disorder, obsessive relationships: you can be giving it all to me. I love when a character is willing to literally let the world burn, should the world try to come between them and the person they love (romantically or platonically).

I love them doing questionable things or neglecting themselves in order to make their partner happy. I don't need it sugar coated or spun to make it seem healthy and alright, in fact I love it when the characters know — fully or merely suspecting — that what they're feeling, to the level they're feeling it at, isn't healthy, but they enjoy it so much they wouldn't even think of getting help or trying to back off. Them being equally, fuck-up-ed-ly invested in their relationship is what I live for.

⟿ Canon divergences, semi-alternative universes, and/or slight changes to canon are my jam, so if you want to keep everything the same but except now there’s a paranormal or supernatural element (i.e. ‘it’s all the same except X was the grim reaper the whole time’, ‘they’re all werewolves! and this is how that changes canon’, ‘oh no! Y got possessed by a demon’, or ‘Z sold their soul to the devil in order to make [blah] happen!’) that’s completely fine and really cool.

Complete AUs that are paranormal, or supernatural in nature are also welcome.

⟿ I actually really like stuff that starts in the "middle"/in medias res of a fic. I don't need a lot of world building, especially if that's not something you're super into doing. If you've decided to take up one of my AU or canon-divergence ideas, I already know the basic background of what's going on so you can go right on ahead with the action of the story.

⟿ When it comes to art, I like genre scenes, still life, and/or things that look like they could be proudly displayed in the middle of a "chapter", or even as the 'cover' of a comic book, novel, or DVD box, describing any scene that you like. In terms of color palettes and style, I'm into Renaissance Art, Impressionism, Fauvism, Luminism, Surrealism, Baroque, intentionally 'sketchy' and rough looking sketches/water colors that go "outside" the lines, and of course practically all the Realistic, comic-book, and similar styles. Anything with those vibes would be cool to see, but I'm not an artist in any way, shape, or form — although I like coloring books and can make a mean .gif! — so whatever you create will be impressive to me.

⟿ When it comes to ratings, anything from G-rated schmoop to NC-17 sexcapades is alright in my book.

Should you write a sex scene, here’s a list of kinks/scenarios that I like to read:
age regression, age differences, underage, made-them-do-it, a/b/o, water sports (for marking/scenting and/or intimacy; less about being super into pee or humiliation), conditioning, frottage, gentleness, roleplay, rough sex, marking/branding, switching/no set sexual “roles”, possessiveness, power issues, abuse of power, dubcon, semi-public sex, sensory overload, sex addiction/compulsion, silence, d/S that’s focused on taking care/being cared for more than pain/humiliation, size differences and power dynamics — feel free to have the "smaller”/younger/more docile dude be more "dominant”/aggressive member of the relationship—, touching, slavefic, delayed emotional intimacy, captivity.
⟿ Finally, a general list of tropes/scenarios that might pair well with tricks:
stuck in isolation together, forced closeness, age gaps, amnesia, viking/tribe/barbarian/pre-history au, android aus, hooker aus, western/rancher/farmer aus, trope inversions & subversions, sex before feelings, d/s that’s focused on taking care/being cared for more than pain/humiliation, soul mates/soul bonds, fake relationships, forced/arranged marriages, bodyswaps, exploring physical disabilities (losing sight/hearing/the ability to a speak).

TREATS!
First and foremost I would like to say that if you want to add in some paranormal or supernatural elements to an otherwise fluffy or domestic fic, I say go for it all the way! I am completely fine with a hybrid tricky-treat of a fic. Blur those lines.

⟿ I really like strong relationships. I am super into reading about how their relationships work; their dynamics, how they support one another, how they relate to each other, how they interact [pre-, post-, and during-canon when “offscreen”], where their wants and needs mesh up, where they differ; all that interests me immensely.

⟿ I love when people are equally invested in whatever they’re doing; completing a mission, building a relationship, putting together IKEA furniture! Them putting in the same amount of care and time into what they're doing/building together, and them respecting each other enough not to play games are all stuff that I like.

Rather than miscommunication causing drama, I love it when bluntness and frankness causes that tension instead! Characters saying what they want or what they've done, point blank, and then leaving it to the other character to decide if they can handle that; quiet characters taking their time and really mulling over their choices before telling the other person what they want: It’s all great.

⟿ I love codas, alternate canons, semi-alternate universes, and canon divergences, and/or slight changes to canon. I also love established relationships/friendships, and domesticity. If you want to write me slice-of-life that details their routine or daily life, I'll eat that shit up.

⟿ I actually really like stuff that starts in the "middle"/in medias res of a fic. I don't need a lot of world building, especially if that's not something you're super into doing. DISLIKES!
⟿ Character deaths for major characters are fine, but I’d rather they not “stay dead”. Them dying and turning into a ghost, continuing 'living' on in heaven/hell, being reborn, turning into a vampire, turning into a zombie, the story continues on in the "afterlife", or any other thing that means that they still exist in some manner post-death is great. As long as the story doesn't end with "[…] and they died, the end", it's perfect.

⟿ Excessive angst wherein the majority of the fic is sadness/miscommunications and a tiny bit at the end is happy/resolution; if from the outside, as an observer, it's sad but the character(s) living that reality as their everyday lives are happy/content/blind to it, then that's fine! I just don't like it when 50% or more of the fic is focused on someone's sadness/angst and how they react or wallow in said angst.

⟿ Embarrassment/humiliation (kink or otherwise), painplay/torture kink, cheating/infidelity, high school/university au, matchmaking/meddling friends, crossdressing, noncon/rape, genderswap/always-a-[opposite gender].

⟿ Not a fan of crossovers, but fusions are always cool.

A Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell fusion with Der Samurai, where Stephen finds himself being stalked and wooed by a homicidal fairy-werewolf would be awesome. Some kind of Dominion fusion with Deadpool where Gabriel drags his brother into the Weapon X project by stress testing him to hell and back until his recessive mutant powers develop would be fascinating. Or even a Deadpool fusion with True Detective where Francis Ajax and Wade are two completely opposite guys who're forced to team up and tackle some crazy shit!

⟿ I’d like fics best when background pairings are kept to a minimum. Side relationships existing in the background (or canon relationships showing up) are completely fine, but an extended subplot detailing their relationship angst or them getting together will make my eyes glaze over. Also, it’s fine if you don’t ship the same things as me, but if you could avoid making the fic center around a ship I don't mention shipping, I'd appreciate it!

⟿ No preference between past and present tense, although I prefer 3rd-Person Narration well above all others.

Dominion (TV)

♡ I ship Gabriel/Michael, Gabriel/Michael/Lucifer, Gabriel/Michael/Alex, Gabriel/William.
⟿ Gabriel falling back into his Michael obsession when Lucifer returns.

We all know that Lyrae did a great job of turning Gabriel's love/faith/obsession in Michael against him and making him find new levels when it came to his Michael obsession. Michael's love managed to #save him at the end of S2 and it was amazing, but what if Lucifer coming back managed to trigger him into that desperate, obsessed mess who only wants Michael for himself again?

⟿ Gabriel & David: A perfect little two-unit family.

Gabriel was absolutely besotted with David. (If you're familiar with football/soccer, I see them as being a biblical era version of Cristiano & Cristianinho, seriously.) I'd love anything set amongst the happier times of Gabriel's attempts to be a father. Domesticity, training him to best Goliath, h/c, anything.

⟿ Exploring how Gabriel's mind and body is always connected to Michael's.

Take it any way you see it. Can be smutty; can be how even when they're at odds, they still checked in with one another and got feedback on their plans just like how they would have a "truce" when they would meet up in person; can be set during their Old Testament days or closer to canon.

⟿ Canon divergence where, when threatened with the very real reality of Michael choosing the humans over him pre-S1, Gabriel folds and goes with Michael to set up Vega and protect the humans.

What changes? What stays the same? Are things easier/safer with Gabriel not constantly trying to get Michael back and take out the city? Does a different villain reveal themselves? Do they catch wind of what Lucfier's up to sooner without the distraction of their rivalry?

If you'd like: how does Alex come into play? If Gabriel's history can be taken into account, we've seen that he's very hands on when it comes to chosen boys. Does him being in Vega mean that he (& Michael?) plays a larger role in Alex's upbringing? Does that change how he is seen by the other citizens of Vega? How he views himself? Does Gabriel's interest in him have Michael being more active just to try to counterbalance Gabriel's parental POV? Does Michael continue to be standoffish and so Alex becomes Gabriel's David 2.0? Does his/their constant meddling turn him into the same kid of apocalyptic, separate-from-thou prophet that Jesus was?

⟿ Things that Gabriel has done for Michael that Michael has no idea about.

⟿ How Gabriel got William to defect to his cult/worship him.

⟿ Anything dealing with his antics throughout the Torah/Old Testament/Quran.

⟿ What things were like before Lucifer fell.

Were the a happy little triad? Did Michael agree with how Lucifer felt about humans back then? Did Gabriel? Was Gabriel jealous of how close Michael and Lucifer were? Was he more of a standoffish older sibling — God's favorite, after all — despite Michael and Gabriel being God's voice and will?

♡ I ship Michael/Gabriel, Michael/Gabriel/Lucifer, Michael/Alex, Michael/Gabriel/Alex.
⟿ Michael needing Gabriel to speak for him.

Just by wont of their respective roles, Gabriel is so much more articulate than Michael.

How often was it that Michael let Gabriel do the talking? During his Flood/Sword days, were there ever times where Michael wouldn't talk at all and Gabriel had whole conversations by himself? They can communicate with their minds and their bodies are in tune with one another, but that hasn't ever seemed to stop Gabriel from needing to physically speak.

⟿ Michael + Gabriel & David: What it was like for Michael to be on the outside of Gabriel being in a two-person unit that didn't include him.

We saw how badly Gabriel dealt with Michael's relationship with Alex on the show, but never really got to see how Michael dealt with Gabriel & David. I'd love to see how that bitter & Jaded version of Michael felt towards David? Was it jealousy?

Michael was vengeful and standoffish with everyone besides his twin during his Flood period, while Gabriel was domestic and kind, with most of his attention trained on newfound son. Did Michael like this changed Gabriel? Did he hate it? Were the only glimmers of Michael's "humanity" to be found when he was spending time with Gabriel & David, or was the "loss" of his brother to some human one of the reason's Michael went so hard during his Flood?

⟿ Struggling with his need to be God's Sword and the Flood throughout history even after Sodom & Gomorrah, especially during his Vega days.

⟿ Canon divergence where Michael did "choose" Gabriel from the start and was totally up for taking over the Earth from the humans and running shit until God came back.

What changes? What stays the same? Is Vega absolutely toast without an Archangel on their side, or does someone else pick up the slack? Does Michael's tactician prowess have him convincing Gabriel to forget the humans so they can focus on readying the world for God's return? Does he set forth another Flood?

If you'd like: how does Alex come into play? Is he turned into a slave? Do they raise him as a sort of David 2.0, the one good human amongst filth? Do they sorta brain-wash him into thinking that humanity deserves to be wiped out, so he turns into the same kid of apocalyptic, separate-from-thou prophet that Jesus was?

⟿ Michael becoming obsessive/possessive over Gabriel when Lucifer returns.

Michael came so close to losing his brother at the end of S2, but really he spent most of the reason reconnecting with their whole codependent twin-bond.

With Lucifer back and Gabriel far more changed than he'd been the last time Lucifer was around, maybe Lucifer and Gabriel have far more in common and start to strike up a bond over their now-shared views. Is Michael worried that Gabriel will leave him again? How does he feel about that, considering all he went through to get his twin back? Is he threatened by Lucifer? Is it less serious and more of a brotherly competition for Gabriel's affections? Is it a serious, Light vs. Dark situation?

⟿ Anything dealing with their antics throughout the Torah/Old Testament/Quran.

Deadpool (2016)

Watch here or here.

♡ I ship Ajax/Wade, Ajax/OMC.

⟿ Fix-it where Ajax manages to keep himself alive.
However you see it happening!

I have one idea, wherein he continues the lie he told Wade: what if Ajax found a way to make Wade look (to whatever degree you like) "normal", but it was only for a short period of time? Wade then has to keep coming back to him for doses whenever he needs it, which Ajax is happy to provide — for a price.

⟿ What was Ajax's life was pre-Weapon X project?

Was it a sad life? A good life? Was he an enforcer for the Workshop, as in the comics, or did he have a less-direct route to his powers? Did he volunteer and it was as direct? He's fused with Killebrew in the film, did he have a similar backstory to him?

Did he still try to have a normal life after having his nerves removed? If you'd like to include an OMC relationship, was there someone in his life before that happened? How did they handle Francis losing all sensation? Did an OMC enter the picture afterwards?

Also, in the comics he was originally American, but they made him British for the film. If you want to play around with giving a solid reason for why he had to be British, I'd be interested!

⟿ Canon Divergence/fusion with that horrible X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Wade was dreadfully underused/tacked on in Origins (like a lot of things), but his origin story there is an interesting one. What if Ajax had been a part of the Mercenary crew, pre-Wade's Weapon X torture? Or maybe after Wolverine destroys the facility, Wade and Ajax become Department K's go-to mercs/heavymen?

⟿ Ryan Reynold's has said that he wants Deadpool to have a boyfriend in the second film. What if Ajax was/is that boyfriend?

Foe Yay in all it's goodness. In a perfect world, Spidey would be that boyfriend, but studio rivalries mean it'd never happen. My second choice would the Quicksilver (who also wants to be in Deadpool!), then Cable — but I digress, we already have a great romantic foil for Wade: Francis.

Dram-Rom or Rom-Com, those two as an intended romance set within the Deadpool 'verse would be entertaining as hell. Did they meet when Ajax was only "Francis" and the Weapon X stuff was a reunion between ex's? Was that the first time they met and there was an instant, extremely annoyed and sadistic spark?

⟿ Ajax dubconning Wade as a means of trying to bring out his mutant genes.

Does he do fucked up sexual stuff? Are there some aspects of gas lighting/mind fucking, where after days of nonstop torture, Ajax is really tender/gentle/kind to Wade while Wade is absolutely out of it? Physical stress/pain is one way to have genes reveal themselves, but maybe psychological whiplash/stimulation in various forms is a way to make things happen too?

The whole "did you actually believe I could fix you?" at the end seemed to give Ajax such satisfaction, it'd be interesting he if didn't pull that trump card once.

Given that it's mental stress, perhaps that torture has the unknown-to-Ajax(?) consequence of Wade developing the ability to break the fourth wall?

⟿ Canon Divergence where Ajax does break Wade.
Again, in the movie that should-not-be-named, an aspect of breaking Wade in the Weapon X project involved sewing his mouth shut, which Ajax threatened to do. What if he actually went through with it, and that's what made Wade docile and give up?

After all the shit Ajax went through to bring Wade to heel and get those powers revealed, would he still give him up to the project? Would he keep him around?

⟿ Ajax really hates his given name. Was there ever anyone who was allowed to call him Francis?

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell & Related Fandoms

Watch on Netflix, BBC iPlayer, here, or here.

♡ I ship Stephen/The Gentleman, Stephen/Vinculus, Stephen/Vinculus/Childermass.
⟿ What's life like for Stephen now that he's got all that magic in him?

⟿ Stephen doing anything to get the Gentleman to stop giving him "gifts".

Stephen's understandably upset whenever the Gentleman harms/kills someone for Stephen's "sake". What are the ways that he distracts or placates the Gentleman to divert that tendency.

Does he start encouraging the Gentleman to give him actual gifs, like nice clothes or good food? Distract him with Stephen's body? With compliments/questions? With talks of their shared future?

⟿ Post-Series Lost-Hope slice-of-life.

What's life like now that Lost-Hope is run by someone like Stephen? He's so good at logistics and keeping things operating smoothly — and wonderfully. Is it more of a New/Found Hope under Stephen's rule? Does being in that position turn him into the same kind of man as the Gentleman?

At the end of the book, Stephen's known as the person who had been Stephen Black, which is very similar to the Gentleman with the Thistledown Hair. Is that loss of having a name something that comes with being King? Is it something of a coincidence and a thing that only Stephen and the Gentleman share?

⟿ Alternate Canon where Stephen was always the ruler of Lost Hope?

How does that change things during the show/book?

Random points of interest: Would the Gentleman be a fairy? Or is some discontent lower/upperclassmen that Stephen takes an interest in? Is he (or does he become) Stephen's butler/valet? (Is he absolutely horrid at it, but Stephen keeps him around anyway?) Does Stephen give Norrell/Lady Poole a better deal? Does magic return to England sooner, if Stephen is a kinder king? Does magic never return, since an evil-king Stephen would be more competent than the Gentleman in those latter days? Would being the king for so long have made him the same kind of "blind" that the Gentlemen was susceptible to being?

⟿ Caught between Vinculus and the Gentleman.

In whatever way you want. Sexually, ideologically, loyalty, etc.

The Gentleman selfishly (but he 100% ain't wrong) fans the fuel on Stephen's resentment towards the English, while Vinculus' frankness and bold understanding of Stephen's lot in life and the things he faces on the daily really seems to touch him as much as it annoys him.

The Gentleman is separate from English society, but still propitiates the whole "Noble Savage" trope that's been tacked to Stephen his whole life. Vinculus is a part of society, but crassly sees Stephen as someone who puts up with so much shit and still excels, even if people will always refuse to see that his handicaps come from how other's treat him, not anything that's inherently handicapped within himself.

⟿ Slow burn of "stalker with a crush".

What it says on the tin. Slightly more show-based than book, but I'd love to see a drawn out version of the Gentleman's stalking and infatuation with Stephen. He kind of goes from 0 to 60 right from the jump; what if it took a few weeks/months/years of him worming his way into Stephen's heart and playing a restrained-yet-twisted fairy godfather?

Is Stephen shocked/horrified as he learns just how far the Gentleman is willing to go for him? Or does the slow working up to his full-on Gentleman mode kind of have Stephen conditioned to his antics, and so the acclimation means that Stephen isn't really bothered/horrified at all?

⟿ History repeating itself when Stephen realizes/finds out that Vinculus is still alive! He starts stalking Vinculus just as the Gentleman stalked him.

Does he try to keep it a secret, or does he reveal himself? Is he cognizant of the fact that he's puling a reprisal of the Gentleman's tactics? If he does, does that worry/scare him?

If you'd like to include him: is Childermass silently judging the whole situation? Is he happy to see Stephen again too?

⟿ In this post-Magic world, a third sect joins the Norrellites and Strangeites: followers of Stephen Black. How does Stephen feel about having people "following" him?

⟿ Stephen and Childermass meeting up (and hooking up?) at a servants event pre-canon.

⟿ What if The Raven King would show up in Lost hope from time to time and given Stephen unsolicited(/unwanted) kingly advice?

Der Samurai (2014)

Watch here or here.

Note: I know that I list crossdressing as a DNW and the Samurai/Werewolf spends this movie in a dress. For me, the DNW of crossdressing as a trope is the sexual aspect of "wearing [male/female coded] clothes is naughty and dirty". So for this fandom, please don't feel like you need to change is outfit if you don't want to! All I'm looking for is Jakob (or anyone else) continuing to treat it just as he does in the film: that there's this weird samurai-werewolf guy wearing a dress, and after learning about the whole samurai-werewolf thing, the dress is the least interesting thing about him. As long as him in a dress isn't sexually titulating, it doesn't hit my DNW.

Note II: You can call the Samurai "the samurai", the werewolf, or give him a name. I don't mind either way! His actor is named Pit, which works surprisingly well for a werewolf-samurai, so feel free to crib that as the name for his character if you'd like.

♡ I ship the Samurai Werewolf/Jakob.
⟿ Pre-Movie, what was it that made Jakob catch the Samurai's attentions?

⟿ Bonding as a wolf with Jakob.

I don't care for dogs, but Balto conditioned me as a child to always kinda adore the idea of wolves as pets.

I'd kind of love it if the Samurai used Jakob's fascination with his wolf-form to be Jakob's pet for a while, with all the typical stuff that goes along with it: padding around his house, cuddling up with him on the couch/in bed, going for walks, rolling around on the lawn, etc.

⟿ Fix-it alternate ending.

Obligatory fix-it. They run off into the sunset and form a little pack.

What's that like? Do they keep on killing/enacting justice? Move into the city and get jobs? Land on a farm somewhere and live on their own? Something Else?

⟿ Little Red Riding Jakob and Big Bad Samurai Werewolf?

⟿ What if Jakob and the Samurai really were the same person, rather than birds of a feather?

⟿ A fusion with any of your other favorite werewolf canons?

Here's what I know and would love to see the Samurai(/Jakob) in: Being Human, True Blood, Hemlock Grove, Penny Dreadful, What We Do In The Shadows, The Wolves of Kromer, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman, Underwold, Van Helsing.

True Detective

Watch on HBO, here or here.

♡ I ship Ginger/Rust, Ginger/Crash, or Ginger/OMC.

⟿ Anything pre-canon.

What was Ginger's role in the crime/drug/etc organization? How'd he fall into that life?

Were Ginger and Rust close? Passing acquaintances?

⟿ What happened to Ginger before the cops showed up?

⟿ What happened to him after the cops showed up? What was his life like for the 10 year gap in the show?

⟿ Ginger forced to stay with Rust.

Post-canon it was pretty clear that Rust goes to stay with Marty for a bit. What if after the raid/kidnapping, Rust forced Ginger to stay with him for a while to make sure that he didn't rat/to let the heat die down.

⟿ Anything post-Canon.

Matthew McConaughey said that he would love to come back and play Rust again. While I would personally love a season of True Detective set during his Crash era, there would be something epic about Marty nursing Rust back to health and then him jumping back into undercover work.

So! Rust wants back into that life and he drags Ginger along with him? Ginger is manipulated to thinking that he's dragging Rust into that life as revenge for what went down during the show, but it's really Rust allowing this to happen and using Ginger again?

⟿ Crash was a workin' boy, and Ginger was sweet on him.

I, like a lot of fandom, completely believe that Crash turned trade/prostituted himself.

Was Ginger a fellow rentboy? Was he Rust's trick? Was he in charge of making sure Rust didn't get roughed up? Was Rust not a hooker, but he would sleep with Ginger for favors/to manipulate him?

thanks for reading!
